At least it seems that way sometimes. Especially when ‘Aliwicius Rodney Christopher Sally Mankin — but you can call me Rodney‘ — takes the stage. Which he does at every opportunity. And he’s sure to leave an impression in his wake.

A Little History

Rodney debuted in the cast of characters in Book 5, The Disturbing Doll, of the Sally the Loner Series. Rodney grabbed our hearts and funny bones right off the bat. He has appeared in every Sally book since.

His role was as a sidekick to Sally. But through the next 16 Sally books he has made it obvious that he can command his own series. In Book 21, The Perils of Peppersauce, Rodney is bitten by a strange bug. Suddenly he can speak with animals, reptiles and birds — in their own language.

Just like that! A star is born. Now 87-year-old Sally is Rodney’s sidekick because somebody has to be his stabilizer, valet and driver.

It’s a topsy-turvy world we live in.
