Review:

I laughed out loud with this book, and couldn’t bear to put it down to deal with my real life. Three friends, who call themselves the Houseketeers, latch onto Sally, a very capable widow, who they hope will teach them to be more independent of their husbands: husbands that are very controlling of their wives time and activities. There’s also a policeman lurking at Sally’s and other lively creatures too – watch where you step! Being nearer these ladies ages than I care to be, nonetheless they gave me hope for getting into mischief when I am.

The why behind ‘Whispers of Murder’:

The what-if scenario that made this book happen.

What-if there was an annual off-road scooter race for octogenarians? And what if the first competitors are three crochety old geezers who know nothing about off-road scooter handling and have treated their wives like slaves since forever?

Is this an opportunity to serve them their just desserts? Or, to encourage them to serve themselves?

That Sally the Loner would be at an ice cream social is surreal. But when she turns her van around to go to an ice cream social, it becomes a phantasmagoric moment for the record books.

Add to it that she comes away with three new friends that call themselves the 3 Houseketeers… Well. Now we’ve surpassed surreal and flew right into fantasyland on a pink elephant.

Why does it matter? Because suddenly Sally is the credible alibi for the 3 Houseketeers. Three abused wives that have become 3 wealthy widows in one fell swoop. How did she become the credible witness? As a spectator in the first annual scooter race for octogenarians. Where the only competitors are the maniacal grumpy old geezers of the befriending ladies.

Were they accidents or perfect murders?

You tell me. And Detective Muldoon.
