Book 3 — Toxic Man
How the Toxic Man Came to be

This book was a hard one to write. I’m still not pleased with it – except for the cover. But I guess it was a story that needed to be told because here it is, front and center.
The main character (Joan’s client?) grew from the toxic men in my life. I attract narcissists, much to my chagrin. But knowing it has made me stronger in the repelling or retraining them to be all that they can be.
Whichever way they choose to go, I send them on their way with a smile on my face and ‘Phew!’ from my lips.
That said,
Here’s the Toxic Man:
Toxic Man – Volume 3 – A trilogy of case studies, Gary being the main course. Gary’s life is a roller coaster of emotions. He has a multitude of problems to overcome – but not even Joan can help him when he becomes the suspect in a murder. Marion – from The Personal Transformation of Queenie, and Sharee – from Rita’s Story, catch up with Joan while she’s in limbo over Gary.
“…Volume 3 of Joan Freed’s Good Grief series is a trilogy of murder, mayhem, and demands – not necessarily in that order.
Mad scientist, Gary, is the recipient of heavy metal toxicity – but cancer free – who is suddenly unemployed, unemployable, angry, depressed, and at the end of his rope. The fact that he looks like Mr. Potato Head doesn’t help Joan’s success-oriented mindset to encourage Gary’s personal growth or anger management. And when the drunk sleeping it off in the park turns out to be the body of Gary’s boss who caused Gary’s predicament, her resolve turns to self-preservation tactics. Joan also has to face her own demons when she’s slammed with abuse. Will she stay the course?
Sharee, from Volume 1, needs to take the next step – a giant one – in her journey, and Marion, from Volume 2 checks in briefly – but won’t tell Joan where she is, her new name, or what she’s doing – so why did she even make the call?
Previously known as ‘Gary’s Demise’, ‘Toxic Man’ is set in the desert southwest, near Phoenix, Chandler, and Maricopa, Arizona.
How would you deal with Mr. Potato Head?
